2010 Fiat 500 TwinAir- official details, photos and reviews

Fiat has introduced its newly developed TwinAir two-cylinder 85 HP powertrain, which will be marketed starting September on the 500 and the 500C. The first of a new family of two-cylinder engines, this powertrain features the MultiAir system combined with specific fluid dynamics for improved fuel efficiency.

Fiat said that the new family, which produces from 65 to 105hp, has 43% less CO2 emissions than an engine of similar performance. This new TwinAir 85 HP two-cylinder engine is expected to complement other solutions in the Fiat 500 that has reduced fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.

Start&stop, a system which temporarily stops the engine and starts it again when the car is stationary with the engine idling, is featured on both the 500 and the 500C. It’s a system that cuts the urban cycle average consumption by up to 12%.

These models also feature eco:Drive, an innovative software that analyzes driving behavior and assists motorists in optimizing consumptions and emissions by using the USB port of the Blue&Me system.

Furthermore, Blue&Me – TomTom, the latest evolution of the Blue&Me system, will be featured on the Fiat 500 together with the new TwinAir engine.

Blue&Me – TomTom is a fully integrated infotainment system that presents the car owner with a practical color touch screen interface to manage telephone, navigation and useful driving information functions.
