Sony Cybershot H55 Price and Reviews

It must be camera week at Sony or something. Earlier this week, the Japanese tech giant showed off their new rugged compact camera, and later they’ve revealed a new addition to their Cybershot line. This new CyberShot features a wide-angle lens in a small compact body.

That giant lens it’s sporting is a Sony G 25mm wide-angle lens. It’s capable of a 10x optical zoom, which is pretty decent for a point-and-shoot camera. Sony hasn’t said how big the camera body is, but in the press shot, the lens looks flat-out gigantic compared to the body of the camera. The H55 also can take 720p video at 30 fps.

The H55 also features a 14-megapixel censor. It features Sony’s “Sweep Panorama” mode which allows you to take panoramic shots with a single sweeping motion. We’ve seen this on other Sony cameras.

It also features some other bells and whistles, like Optical SteadyShot image stabilization and “Active Mode” which is image stabilization for video mode while the photographer is walking.

On the back, it’ll have a three-inch LC display. For memory, it’ll use either Sony’s Memory Stick format or plain old SD cards. The camera will be shipping in either black and silver, this April with a retail price of $250.
