Hallstatt Austria - A Real Paradise on Earth
I have written numerous articles on travel destinations. They are beautiful and picturesque along with every quality that one demands. But one destination that i really loved and admired is undoubtedly a small town in the mountains of Austria, far away from the outside artificial world, embed with the utmost natural beauty, the tiny town of Hallstatt,Austria.
With a population of less than thousand people, this small valley is situated on the south western shores of the Hallstatter sea.Though the place is very rich historically but the most promising and inspiring thing about it is its scenic beauty. The whole place is surrounded by mesmerizing mountains and river. If we look back in its history, till late 19th century there was no proper way of going there.People used to go by boat or by the small tracks made on the hills by the natives. It was in 1890,when a proper road was made by rock blasting.

If like me,you are a nature lover too then you would like this place for sure. Now there are a few hotels and restaurants.Travelers can find shelter there easily. There are many tourist’s attractions like the world’s first salt mine, the World Heritage Museum, the Dachstein ice cave and you can also enjoy skiing there.
Now lets have a look of the place from historic point of view. The region was always strong economically because of the presence of the valuable source of the salt mine above Downtown Hallstatt. The link of this area goes back to the early iron age Hallstatt culture and it is among the world heritage site for cultural heritage.

We don’t have any historic references of the place during middle ages or the Roman rule.It was in 1311,when this tiny town got economical importance and it was flourished as a market town.Till date it is economically stable because of the salt mine on the other hand tourism also plays a vital role in its development.
A very interesting and a bit horrifying (for me at least) fact about the place is that the space in this town is so less that there is no place for cemeteries that after every ten years the bones of the passed away people are removed from their graves and transferred to an ossuary to make place for the new. Then these bones are decorated with the names, professions and all other details of the dead person and left in the chapel on display.
Johann Georg Ramsauer is the famous archaeologist of the place. He discovered many noticeable things that proves that this town of Hallstatt is one of the most earlier settlements of the world. In 1846 he found a pre-historic cemetery very near to the Hallstatt and a shoe-last celt as old as 5500 BC.A very old and one of the very first blacksmith site was also found here.

Rich in history and culture and enriched with picturesque beauty,Hallstatt is really a heaven on earth. If you ever get a chance of going there you would see that how beautifully the residential area is decorated. It is simple yet elegant.I believe that If you go there, you would wish to have your home there.
The area is developing with the passage of time and there are many facilities there for the outsiders or tourists. The lake surrounding the town, the greenery, the simplicity of the place and the locals, each and every thing is a visual treat in itself.I think heaven would be some what like it.
